Information
Jani Zubkovs is a multi-disciplinary artist based in New York City. Working primarily within photography, his compositions examine the relationship between the physical world and the world of images, while marveling at the strangeness of the human imprint on its built environment. Through notions of artifice, absurdity, and Americana, his work attempts to create a psychological space where perceptions of reality are questioned and the misplacement of time is evident. Jani received his BFA from FIT in 2011, and is currently a MFA candidate at Hunter College.
Zubkovs' work has been exhibited both domestically and internationally, reaching as far as Bogota, Colombia, and as close as Tribeca. In addition to his practice in photography, he is a member of several prominent bands, which has led to worldwide touring and many recorded albums.
